About the Organizer: Hello, welcome to Eat That Elephant! My company is currently in it’s fifth year of operation but I was organizing long before that! No position I've ever had has escaped my organizing touch - what can I say, I just love to sort! Some might consider it an affliction but for me it's a way of life. Through the positions I have held in the medical and business world, I have sharpened and challenged both my creative side and my problem solving skills. In every position held, making life less stressful through organization has been a focus.
I know from personal experience the benefits living an organized life can have and now I work to help others obtain a new level of peace and less stress within their own homes. I have had experience with business, residential, event organizing and downsizing. I am a proud member of NAPO, (the National Association of Professional Organizers); a board member of the NAPO Michigan chapter, the ICD (the Institute for Challenging Disorganization) and Faithful Organizers. I have a B.Sc. in Biology and have worked in diverse fields as a Medical Laboratory Technologist and as a Merchandiser for an upscale home goods store.
Outside of my business I use my organizing skills as the event planner for our church youth group where I have organized anything from a simple evening activity to a white water rafting weekend for 120 kids (yeah, that was fun!)
I enjoy reading, gardening, and genealogy but I rarely have time for research these days! I also have a good working knowledge of antiques - allowing me to recommend what to, as well as what not to, throw out. I have a special interest in what I call "donations that make a difference", finding charities that can benefit in a special way from my clients donations - win/win for both parties.
I am continually taking classes through NAPO and the ICD. In 2010 I passed my exam and am now a Level II CD specialist certificate holder through the ICD. I am actively working towards my CPO certification with NAPO.
Eat That Elephant has participated in GO (Get Organized) Month events at IKEA, the DSO and other non-profits. It has been featured in Strut magazine, and the Oakland County Examiner, online edition. In 2010 I participated in an episode of the A&E hit TV show "Hoarders." I have worked with clients from 11 to 90 and all ages in between and I would be delighted to help you attain the organizing goals you have for your space.
