There’s an elephant in my room,
he started out quite small.
But now the elephant in the room
has grown from wall to wall.
He once lived in the basement,
Then he spread to the garage
Now he’s gotten in the house
And he’s getting kind of large.
His body’s on the counter,
his snout goes down the hall
His ears hang out the window,
and his tail’s against the wall.
He used to be so tiny,
(he just sat there on the floor)
But now he’s gotten bigger
and he won’t fit through the door.
The elephant has many names,
He’s chaos, clutter.......crap
He’s all the things that in my life
Make me feel so trapped
I want the elephant to leave
For he takes up so much space
That I can barely work around him
He’s taken over my place

The elephant is everything
Disorganized in my life
I’d like to be back in control
I’d like to end this strife
So I went to see the organizer
And I asked her “tell me please,
How do I eat the elephant?
How do I tame this beast? ”
“This elephant”, she asked me
“Did he get there in a day?”
Said I, “He grew quite slowly
And now he’s in the way.”
“Likewise”, she said, “the problem
Will not disappear overnight
Because to eat the elephant
You must do so bite by bite.
First you fix the counter,
then you fix the hall,
then you tackle the inbox,
Next the basement, wall to wall
In little steps you conquer
Little habits you remake
And bite by bite from the elephant
